Do you need renters insurance?

If you rent an apartment or condominium, renters insurance covers your possessions against covered causes of loss such as vandalism, theft, smoke damage, or windstorm. Depending on your policy, renters insurance may also cover the cost of additional living expenses if you have to temporarily relocate while your apartment or condo is repaired or restored. What losses are covered by homeowners insurance?
